Operating in Apopka Lights a few years ago, Acedia Reed became known for her high-stakes heists and robberies. She's known for her treachery and ability to spin a web of lies, robbing her targets before they even realize what she's doing. Beyond her crime spree, Acedia was a popular gossip topic in Apopka because of her good looks and eccentric personality. She drew the ire of many wealthy Apopkans, mostly for being the prime targets of her schemes, but otherwise, she was almost an urban legend to the general public. No one knew her face or when she'd strike, but she became well known for her red hair and calling card with a red lipstick stain.

On June 21st, 2078, Acedia Reed successfully robbed Star Heights, where it would take until July 10th before the authorities managed to locate her and arrest her. Beyond her primary crime of theft, she was also suspected of being involved in many murders and missing person cases, although those charges never had enough evidence. She's supposedly prison for life for the robbery of the casino.

However, as of May 19th, 2081, she's been the prime suspect of a successful heist on Lake Summer's Vault, casting doubt on her imprisonment.

Criminal History

Acedia's life, outside of her criminal record, is completely unknown.

As an established criminal, 'Acedia Reed' first came on the radar of the police when the leader of The Warthogs was captured, cursing out her name for her betrayal. She had apparently been the one to tip off the police, and had raided their base of everything before the cops even got there. From there, she became something of an urban legend, only properly revealing her identity to her marks once she had robbed them blind. She's also rumored to fake identities to sneak into high end parties or other such galas: even more so, it's rumored that she didn't need to fake her identity, as the name 'Acedia Reed' was such a mystery people were lured in by that.

Acedia moved onto more formal heists at the start of 2077, after a year of her name growing in notoriety. It's here that she started with her calling card; a business card with a lipstick stain on it. The lipstick stain is not actually applied directly onto the card, and is instead printed onto it to prevent DNA matches. It is believed to be a direct copy of her own kiss mark, however. Acedia Reed was connected to these robberies by her usual schemes; usually, a burned accomplice cursing out her name.

Her two major nicknames, The Scarlet Thief and The Lackadaisical Liar, where coined by crime reporter Verity Tryst in various articles about her, but none ever quite stuck as much as her name. Red, meanwhile, is a common nickname of people who knew her. Which, despite her villainous behavior, was quite a bit. She frequented the Apopkan nightlife, and had a long list of contacts, whether they know her as Acedia Reed, or a fake name.

Star Heights Heist

On the evening of June 21st, 2078, Acedia Reed lead a planned robbery of the Star Heights Casino, managed by one Benji Dover-Cao. She did so by allying with three others: two powerful members of The World's Deck, and one high ranking and well known patron of the casino. It's unknown how or why these men turned on the casino, but usual motivations like falling for her charms, or just general greed, are believed. At 10 P.M., Benji Dover-Cao was scheduled for a meeting with friends of the casino, and Acedia's ally within the group made sure to keep the man busy with a game of chance. Meanwhile, Acedia entered the building with one of Benji's men, while the other waited nearby, as a getaway driver.

Along with her three major accomplices, a dealer working the gambling floor was unwittingly brought into her schemes, being tricked into letting them further into the casino. Acedia was after an inner vault where the Star Heights stored valuable jewelry and gemstones of various patrons, whether offering to protect them, or having taken them as payment for debts. Acedia and her ally got to work grabbing them and escorting them out on dinner trays, disguised as part of the waitstaff. A key part of this heist is that the most valuable thing taken, the Black Opal Amulet, was given to her ally to escape with. This worked in her favor, as when Benji became aware of the scheme, his mark worked in the favor of catching her accomplice first, giving her time to escape. The driver, as well as the wealthy patron, were also discovered to be involved. Only Acedia Reed was able to escape.

It wasn't until July 10th that the authorities, with the support and pressure from Dover-Cao, were able to locate her and the warehouse she was storing most of the jewelry in. Not all of it was recovered, but only a small amount slipped through the cracks. After this, Acedia was swiftly sentenced to life in prison.

It is unknown how she escaped.

Lady Blanche Con

Main Article: Lady Blanche

Acedia has used different names and identities throughout the years, assisted by her shapeshifting mark that she keeps under wraps. Her most notable identity, and the one used within the project, was Lady Blanche, a fashion designer. She originally created Lady Blanche as a 'high end' socialite persona to get closer to to rich targets, and using fashion shows as an excuse to nab things off of the patrons or slip ideas into their heads.

After robbing the Star Heights, Acedia had to put her prime identity to rest for awhile, and took over as Lady Blanche full time. To try and further get heat off her back, she moved to Draywood and took up the mantle of a costume designer. She used her established fame to create more and more trends, and eventually landed on trying to make masks as popular as they could be. This is due to the unique property of her mark, which benefits from more established names wearing masks.

Publicly, this is still unknown. Her double identity has been revealed to the starlets on Project Perihelion, however.

Lake Summer's Vault Heist

Acedia Reed is the prime suspect behind the robbery of Lake Summer's Vault, spotted once again for her red hair by patron Shirley LaCoste, and for leaving behind her calling card. It's rumored that she was working with others, but their identities remain unknown. It's also unclear of what could have been taken out of the vault to the general public.

The actual heist was done with Tyche, Teagan Hoover, Arthur Quinn, and REMIX, as a mission for Project Perihelion to retrieve Lord Drake's Spectre. The mission remained a success, but the incident was reported on the news, and REMIX gave it's life to get everyone out.

Mark

On the mission,Whatever It Fakes, "Lady Blanche" revealed (due to Oscar's annoyance), that her mark was much more powerful that she had let on. Her shapeshifting abilities extend her to body shape, height, and weight, allowing her to look and feel like a completely different person. A fellow starlet on base, one "Caelin Katze", was revealed to actually have been Blanche all along.

On her next mission, ...Must Come Down, the team was face to face with an old ally of Acedia's, but not Lady Blanche. She made the choice to reveal her identity in front of everyone to gain Picklock's trust, thus outing her to the Project as a thief and a con-artist.

Some details about her mark, according to her:

She can hold objects in her clothing, and when she shifts her outfit, she can change the location on the object to a different pocket or place.
Acedia cannot utilize the power of anything mechanical, but she can still give the appearance of it.
- For example, if Acedia had a watch on her wrist, it'd look the part, but the time would never change.
While the clothes on her body are tangible and real, they disappear if she tries to take them off, or the 'real' equivalent is discarded.
Her mark can shift it's location on her body, as long as it's still somewhere. She can also copy the mark design of others.
Shifting is instant, and only requires a thought from Acedia.
Even while sleeping, or unconscious, her mark doesn't 'drop'. It remains in the form she had taken.
Her major limitation is that she cannot change her face. If she wants to fully impersonate a person, she requires them to hide their face in some degree.

The design of her mark is unknown. The pink side profile that made Lady Blanche's mark was fake, shifted unto her skin. There is no clearly visible mark that she's shown yet.

Other Abilities

Acedia is a skilled impressionist, able to mimic a large range of voices. She's also capable of pickpocketing and lockpicking, and generally prefers to be sneaky rather than aggressive. While she's lacking in any combat scenario, she is rather quick, and is quick at assessing if she has any way to escape. Also, she's rich. Which doesn't really count, but throwing money at a problem is always an option.

"Dolls"

With her ability to shapeshift, Acedia has a collection of fake identities that she uses whenever she pleases. She calls them her "dolls", and each one is based around one color, seemingly based on the range of colors she wears in her cape. This range only goes from orange to purple. In a conversation with Ripley Pond, she stated that these dolls were all, at least at some point, real people.

Acedia seems to have prewritten notes on how each person should think and feel, fully committing to no longer being "her", but rather, whomever the doll is. That said, she's also stated that personalities have gotten away from her, and she does whatever seems to best be in the moment. Some dolls are easier for her to be that others. Her personal favorite is the orange doll, and her least favorite is the blue doll.

The dolls are an important part of Lady Blanche's identity, but less so Acedia's. That said, Acedia considers herself to be the 'red doll' in Blanche's set.

Trivia

When asked, Acedia stated her favorite color is brown.
Due to Acedia faking her arrest, a false mark was recorded. Before that, Acedia Reed had been considered markless.
At some point during the height of her crime spree, Acedia worked with the thief Picklock.
She has a deep fondness for movies, and can be rather insightful about them when asked.
Acedia is rather weak, and tends to faint after exerting themselves too much.

Notable Relationships
Agent Cancer	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥♥ Acedia's not quite sure when it happened, or how it happened, but she's become deeply entangled within the life of Dylan Copperfield, or... whatever to call him. She still likes talking to him, and hopes as well things can return back to the normal they had before, as 'Agent' and 'Lady'. That look she spotted him with next to Vincent is one that will stick in her mind for awhile.
Arthur Quinn	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ Damn it. Arthur Quinn remains someone Acedia still quite enjoys, but there's a conversation they probably still need to have. But he's not exactly a connection she's willing to burn that easily, and perhaps she can be a bit more candid with him. Something still feels bitter in her throat, after all.
Benny O'Hare	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ Benny O'Hare is a DELIGHT to Acedia. She's always been protective of more preppy, pink girls like Benny, and she wants to help her out where she can. It's a rare moment of genuine friendship from Acedia, no strings attached.
Black Mantle	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥ Dude that's the Grim Reaper?? Acedia has had only odd conversations with Black Mantle, which makes her curious. At the same time, that's a killer, with unclear motivations, and Acedia's not about to let her guard down.
Bleeding Heart	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ She still shockingly likes Blaine, but he should be careful making assertions of friendship and whatnot. If it wasn't for the fact she gives Blaine a bit of a pass in her head, she'd be more annoyed from their conversation. Now with the matter of Vincent, she's slightly concerned about the 'babies', but she wouldn't say that out loud.
Bone Doctor	AMUSEMENT: ♥ The good part of being a villain, to Acedia, is you don't need to get caught up in moral quandaries of 'who deserves redemption', or 'where do you draw the line'. And at least she knows she's a bad person, instead of parading herself around as a hero.
Flick	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ She's more... befuddled by Flick than anything. He was easy to play like a fiddle, controlling the conversation effortlessly when she didn't even want to talk in the first. That, added with his attitude to Caelin before... she kind of just thinks that he's an idiot, frankly.
General Hiss	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥ He and Rosen aren't the worse couple, she'll admit. She thinks he's good for him, and frankly, if they aren't causing trouble on base, it's not really that big of a deal.
Georgy Joy	AMUSEMENT: / Acedia sure as hell won't miss her, but she'll never say that out loud.
Jegg Hardly	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ The circumstances as they are, Acedia has found herself needing to be much more direct and open with Jegg than she normally would be. That said, it's not the worst thing. She found herself enjoying their chat, just... hopes he can understand that she didn't mean any harm by what happened in the rec room.
Henrik Rosen	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥ ... He's an old fool who keeps trying to get tangled with villains. Not everyone can be saved, old man. And he's going to get himself hurt if he's not careful.
Jabberwocky	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ Jabberwocky is a DELIGHT. Acedia's been keeping away from the girl for a bit, on account of what happened to her sister on the mission, but Acedia still considers Jabberwocky fun.

Jules Knightley	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥♥ Jules Knightley has properly gone of the deep end, and likely wants her dead, and Acedia could not be more interested in her now. How does the fall to villainy feel? Do you hate her? Doesn't she drive you mad? More than ever, she wants to pick apart Jules, even despite the nasty fallout they had. ... Granted, the information that Jules Knightley might've tried to kill Ripley on nature of being a shapeshifter might make it less fun, but she doesn't know that. Yet.
Kyouko Okada	AMUSEMENT: ♥ Acedia's content to keep things professional with Kyouko, as she can't imagine their personalities clashing well outside of work. She does respect the work Kyouko does for Draywood, considering it's more than anything the royal family does.
Luisa Rivera	AMUSEMENT: ♥ It's complicated. It's not that she's protective of Luisa, because she thinks learning to stand on your own two feet is an important part of growing up. But there is a bit of bias there, admittedly. She needs to make sure Knightley never finds out about her connection to Sisyphus.
Marco Decatur	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥♥ There's nothing there. There's nothing there. She cannot let herself be stupid, not if he's with Mx. Cupid. But, frustratingly, she really enjoys her banter with Marco, and after Token of Heart her head's a mess.
Mateo Banderas	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ She... respects Mateo. More than she thought she would. He looked out for her when she was really at her weakest, and gave her just a bit of power back when she had none. Mx. Cupid	AMUSEMENT: ♥ She can do respect. She wants respect, she just feels like, deep down, she can never actually live up to Mx. Cupid's standards. And she thought... well, it doesn't matter what she thought. It'd be so much easier if Cupid just hated her.
Naoko Shimizu	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ While the two haven't spoken in awhile, Acedia still likes Naoko and has been meaning to chat with her. Not quite sure if she'll be able to do any forgeries for her anytime soon.

And she's grateful he's sticking by her side after being at her lowest... that said, she's still not thinking about what happened Thursday night. However, the matter with Jules Knightley takes more precedence than anything, and she's happy he's living in 3 Lambent. ...Now if he can just stop sleeping on the floor???
Sightline	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥♥ Acedia can at least admit that Sightline is one of her favorite people on base, and perhaps that's why she's not directly talking about the Acedia thing with him. That said, he still came out shopping with her over the weekend, so... we're cool?
Sisyphus	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ Acedia knows better than to play too dangerous with someone as powerful as Sisyphus, but she does like pestering him as Taffy, when she can. That said, with her connection to Jules Knightley, and her becoming aware of his connection to the Riveras family, she feels way more connected to New Chiti drama than she wants to be.
Star Dust	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥ This is literally the hardest thing she's ever had to do. Screw it being easier if Mx. Cupid hated her, it'd be way easier if she hated Star Dust. But she doesn't, she actually respects Star quite a lot. She doesn't hate a challenge, but she feels so out of her depth it's more like pulling her hair out than a game. Still... ... She's made up her mind. She'll figure out a way.
T-9204	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ As a fellow 'slipped away on the Villain's Inc mission to cause problems' starlet, Acedia finds T-9204 interesting, and wants to know who exactly that agent was...
Teagan Hoover	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ Teagan has ever right to dislike her, but he doesn't it, and she's enjoyed his company since then. She likes his presence in whatever group has formed between the two of them, Ripley, and Dylan, and wants the chance to talk to him some more.
Teeth	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ Teeth is Acedia's saving grace after her fallout from Communications, and she's not really sure she'd even been as grounded in her motivations without her. She's a bit embarrassed by how emotional their conversations have been, and would appreciate the chance to show her she's capable in her own right, and not just a mess.
The King Of Hearts	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Now revealed as Acedia Reed, having been punched in the face, and attempting to shoot Benji, anyone in their right minds would assume she wants to stay as far away from him as possible. That couldn't be further from the truth. Her interest in The King remains at an all time high, she just has to figure out how to go about it in a way that doesn't get her in more trouble.
The Peregrine	AMUSEMENT: ♥ Frankly, everything she hears about The Peregrine sours her more to the woman.
Theseus	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ She knew she'd like Theseus. She didn't seem to want to bother with her as Blanche, but there's more of a genuine connection that's formed between Acedia and Theseus. Still... she'll remain cautious, as she always does.
The Toymaker	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ Acedia finds the Toymaker funny, and didn't blink at the idea of owing him a favor.
Tyche	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ Tyche is a bit too high energy for Acedia's tastes, but at the same time, she doesn't hate the girl at all. She's not quite sure where she stands after what happened on the mission, and if it's best they avoid paths, that's fine.
Tyff Consequence	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥♥ Working on making decorations for the masquerade with her was actually a lot of fun, and she likes chatting with her. Yúzé just standing there the whole time was entertaining in it's own right, as well.
Tyler Bonnie	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥ While Acedia doesn't speak with Tyler much, nor get involved in what he's up too, she's grown to like him as a roommate and would avoid doing anything that makes his or Luisa's life more difficult. He's a good kid, she thinks.
Valerie Ambrose	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ There's a lot of reasons to dislike Valerie, and she's been irritated at both of the babies that she had to be the one to get Naoko out of there when she was a patient. That said, just like Blaine, she can't really bring herself to be to hold it against her. There's something about Valerie that makes her curious.
Vincent Noble	AMUSEMENT: ??? She doesn't want to talk about it.
Yúzé Astor	AMUSEMENT: ♥♥♥ She likes Yúzé, but their paths don't seem to cross much, and she's not really that interested in becoming too entangled with her. If that changes, she's happy to get to know him more, but... bigger fish to fry, at the moment.
