Rattrap is a traveling vigilante and superhero. Previously classified as a villain, they've recently gained heroic status.

Career

Rattrap began their start as a hero in 2079. They focus on fighting against violent crime specifically, but like to help wherever they're needed. It's unknown what they did before 2079.

Alignment

Villainy

At the start of their career, Rattrap was considered a hero, mostly due to proclaiming themself to be one. However, other heroes quickly grew annoyed of them, along with the public, due to their inexperience in their field of work, causing them to be classified as a hero in 2080.[1]

Viral Fame

On May 13th, 2081, Quack user @toothfairy posted a fancam of Rattrap to the song "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C+C Music Factory. This video was then Quote Quacked by user and well-known villain @menliker672, causing the video to spike in views. This caused Rattrap to gain a new level of attention, and with that many people ended up reexamining how they'd previously felt about their work.

Heroism

On May 18th, 2081, in Draywood, a Quack user attempted to interview Rattrap on QuackLive. However, before they could start a local bank was robbed, and they were taken as a hostage. Rattrap was able to stop the villain and even catch all their accomplices with their many rats. This event officially earned Rattrap the title of hero to the public.[2]

Abilities

Mark

Rattrap's mark is nicknamed Pest Control by the public, although Rattrap themself prefers the name Ratking.[3] Their mark allows them to control and communicate with rats. They're always seen with an army of rats following them.

Instead of using any weapons or tools, Rattrap does everything only with their army of rats. Their actual capabilities in combat are highly impressive with their winning streak not being tarnished (publicly).

Controversy

While Rattrap's public reputation has been improved, they still had past controversies. They've claimed that they're working towards being more aware of collateral damage from now on.

  • Rattrap has in the past caused more damage than prevented with their self-proclaimed heroics, most infamously the infestations that followed them to each city they traveled to.
  • Rattrap has been banned from traveling on the bullet train due to public health concerns, and because of that allegedly travels across city states using their "Ratmobile".
  • Rattrap has "saved" people engaging in combat sports, getting into minor personal arguments, and filming for movies and television.

Trivia

  • Rattrap claims that all their rats chose to help them, despite their mark.
  • Rattrap has no official social media accounts.
  1. Rattrap was the "hero" with the highest votes in an early 2080 survey asking heroes from different city states who their least favorite hero was. Notable reasoning from other heroes being "extremely annoying" "unhygienic" and "I can't stand their stupid voice". After the results of the survey were published on social media villains and civilians alike joined in on expressing their annoyance with Rattrap. Said response was the nail in the coffin for categorizing Rattrap as a villain. When asked about their thoughts on the survey, Rattrap responded "What survey?" Further clarification apparently didn't ring a bell.
  2. Romero, Patrick (2081-05-18). "Rat-Themed Superhero the Land's Cheesed to Meet!" Bulletin Brilliante. Retrieved 2081-05-19.
  3. Rattrap has stated that they don't like the name "Pest Control" as they don't like the implication that rats are pests. A common complaint in the 2080 Heroes Survey was that Rattrap was given a far better mark name by the public but doesn't use it. While their reputation has improved in the public eye, it seems the name is still stuck, but now in a more tongue and cheek manner, according to fans.
