Valerie Ambrose
Valerie Ambrose, also known by her alias Noire (formerly Cloud Nine), is a healer for the Draywood Medical Heroes Association, quite well known online for being a "failgirl" who is the victim of accidentally self-inflicted physical comedy, and getting kidnapped all the time by villains so they can use her mark, Cloud Nine. She's one of the more popular heroes in the DMHA, only behind a few others like her friend Bleeding Heart.

Videos of her failing at the Apopkan gameshow Popout! circulate the internet frequently.
She's most commonly associated with her iconic goggles from VortexWorks, her red scarf, and her cloud jacket.
Personality
Valerie is a pushover. She's famously shown to be someone who has a hard time saying no to people, going back on Popout! multiple times when the producers pressured her, and now some villains don't even need to do much to kidnap her, they just tell her to come with them and she hangs her head and complies.
She takes no joy in this, but the most she's ever done to really stick up for herself seems to be half-hearted posts on quack. She's frequently seen crying and having to empty her goggles of tear buildup.
She's very reliant on her goggles for reminding herself of important dates or meetings, as well as not getting lost. She's unfortunately not the brightest in those regards.
Valerie, however, remains a loving and kind person, not just to the point where she becomes genuinely loved in addition to laughed at online but also the villains who kidnap her genuinely like her and treat her well! Outside of the whole kidnapping thing, that is.
Career
Valerie went straight to the DMHA out of high school, not believing herself someone that could really last in college. She's become a well known figure there, someone who's able to make casts out of her clouds with her mark or add her clouds to existing casts. She's known for being one of the most gentle and patient healers there.
Valerie in an interview has stated that the DMHA is one of the few places where she feels like she can do a good job, and feels safe and happy there.
Abilities
Valerie's mark, Cloud Nine, located on the left side of her neck, allows her to emit clouds from her body and control them. Body parts touched by the clouds give a "cloud nine" feeling, soothing any pain and instead making it feel extremely good, comparable to entering a cold building on a hot summer day. It also speeds up regeneration of any wounds to about double. This is most commonly used to heal patients and commonly serves as casts. This improved regeneration and pain relief is sought after by villains, and is their motivation for kidnapping her or threatening her into healing them.
Valerie also has goggles from VortexWorks. They don't do anything in combat, but act as a way for her to note-take, gather video and photos, as well as other useful features such as navigation.
Relationships
| Notable Relationships | |
|---|---|
| Bleeding Heart |
One of the people who she knew coming into the project. They're extremely close friends, with the project bringing them closer together. She worries about him a bit, but she's always there to support him. Also helped him realize he has a massive crush on Arthur Quinn. |
| Doctor Noble |
He backstabbed her. He backstabbed everyone. She hates his guts and every other part of his body. |
| Jabberwocky |
Jabberwocky is one of her closer friends on base, and even if she may not fully trust Valerie as much as others, she genuinely cares for her well-being quite a bit. She's scared for her a lot of the time, too. With Ayhan's death, Jegg's kidnapping, being stuck on base, she's really worried about her current state. And that doesn't even cover that she's nervous about the cult she's in. And now with Jabberwocky's eye injury, she's even more worried about her. She understands that she wants to go home, she understands that feeling so well. But she also knows that it's for the best that she doesn't go to where she considers home. It's a real tough situation but she wants to find a way to help her friend even though it really seems like there's no winning. |
| Tyff Consequence |
Another very close friend on base, one of the first she's made. She helped Ryan Allrich out when he first moved in, and the two became friends. Valerie, however, has what appears to be a bit of a one-sided crush on Tyff. Still, regardless of any feelings, she feels very good around her. |
| Yuze Astor |
Yuze is another friend of hers on base, and Valerie is one of Yuze's only friends. Hearing about her life usually freaks her out, but she tries really hard to help show Yuze how to act and what society is really like. Yuze at least seems to be making *some* progress thanks to her, if only in small part thanks to her. |
| Rattrap |
She wasn't the biggest fan of them, at first. They rescued her in the past before and she felt massively creeped out by the amount of rats. However, after What Comes Up, she and Rattrap became closer after she helped them cover up their secret identity, with Rattrap even exposing their secret fully to her. She genuinely feels a close bond with them and wants the best for them. |
| Stardust |
Her new agent, and a very loved figure on base for her. She's been feeling a lot better about herself since talking with her more, and having her in her corner has made her life significantly better. |
| Skylar Beaumont |
They didn't get the longest chance to talk, but Valerie seemed to quite enjoy talking to them, it was nice talking to someone who knew who she was but wasn't weird about it. It felt like they were just a normal friend for her. |
| Sightseer |
One of Valerie's best friends, Jason has commonly been someone to save her when she's been in danger. |
| Ditto |
After Ditto has called her out for her escapades in being bullied around base twice, she's become significantly more nervous around him, worrying he's going to out more secrets of hers. Wants a "truce" with him, but hasn't had the chance yet. |
| Flick Sinclair |
She fully knows that Flick does not like her, yet also has the thought that he should be in wellness so they have someone for the animals (+animal people) on base. She's reluctant about it. |
| Naoko Shimuzu |
She won't admit it, but she was relieved when she died. She feels immense guilt about feeling that way, but when she looks back on how she treated her, does not think it's an undeserved thought. |
| Black Mantle |
At first she was afraid of her, but soon became a bit "friendlier" with her. She's a bit less weary of her now, but is still aware she probably doesn't like her that much. |
| Abigail Ambrose |
Abby is Valerie's older sister, and her role model. She's always been a protective older sister for her, sticking up for her at school and being a shoulder for her to cry on. Easily the person she is closest with. |
| Ryan Allrich |
A fellow housemate, he actually makes her somewhat normal, they get along surprisingly well and is one of the few people on base she's not anxious around. One of her best friends on base even without talking too much. |
| Jegg Hardly |
A fellow housemate, he's definitely one of the most normal people on base in her eyes. She was extremely worried when he was kidnapped, and trust his opinion a lot, especially when it comes to Jabberwocky. |
| Daybreaker |
She is not the most trusting of Daybreaker yet. She was originally hesitant to even try and contact him through her goggles, but, once he showed respect for her own space and asked her through DAMARI when he didn't have to, she realized she can probably trust him more. Still, she's a wounded animal at heart. It's going to take a lot to get her to fully open up to him. |
| DAMARI |
DAMARI is an odd case for her, he seems incredibly nice, too nice, even, but man. He's an odd one. |
