Created in the 80s by Oscar Chaturanga III, Make-a-Friend was the prototype that would eventually inspire Build-a-Bear in the greater global world, though within the Land Make-a-Friend remains number one. Along with the default bears and bunnies, Make-a-Friend is well known for it's limited edition collectable bases and outfits, making it a hot collector's item as well as providing a large magnitude of customization options. While the biggest stores exist in Apopka Lights, it has many many outlets in malls all over the Land.

List of Collectable Bears

There were multiple themed 'waves' of bears released throughout the years.

Bear-Themed Bears

The very first bear prototypes, they're highly valued as collectors items and exceedingly rare, especially since the largest stockpiled burned down in Castle Penumbra.

Snowie the Polar Pal It's a white teddy bear! The fur is very soft and cuddly. Its dishplate eyes look at you with complete adoration. There's a plastic tag on its ear that says its name is "Snowie the Polar Pal"
Snuggles the Grizzly Guy It's a black and brown teddy bear! There are little magnets in its front paws, giving it the ability to offer real swell bear hugs. You can see yourself reflected in its large eyes. There's a plastic tag on one ear saying its name is "Snuggles the Grizzly Guy".
Boey the Brown-Bear Buddy It's a brown teddy bear! It's got a little fish plush that is attatched to its snout. It look very pleased with the haul! There's a tag on it's ear, giving up its name as "Boey the Brown-Bear Buddy".
Nibbs the Panda Partner It's a black and white teddy bear! It nuzzles some bamboo to its cheek, eyes closed in delight. The plastic tag on its ear says its name is "Nibbs the Panda Partner".
Rawr the Black-Bear Bro The cutest black teddy bear you've ever seen! It wears a pair of black shades that seem to make its head tilt to one side, arguably making it look even cuter. The plastic tag on its ear says its name is "Rawr the Black Bear Bro".

City-State Themed Bears

A public art project made for each city state to show home city pride!

Dazzle Delights The brightest bear you'll ever meet! Its fur is speckled in glitter, so be careful where you put this showbear down. It has a bright purple star across one of its eyes and is wearing a yellow pop star outfit comprised of a crop top, skirt and boots — equally bright and glittery, of course. It's not hard to think it resembles Apopka's flag to some degree, and you'd be absolutely correct there. The smile on its face beams with joy, and it holds a microphone that magnetically fixes to its muzzle, ready to swoon a crowd at any given moment. The tag on its bum simply calls it "Dazzle Delights the Apopka Bear".
Serva Vitae Serva is the abstract concept of a bear done in the style of the late Andre Valkaxis II, a renowned sculptor from the time whose work is displayed in all city-state art museums. No matter what perspective you look at it from it always looks like you're seeing its profile. There's nothing on its face but a black nose and a vague outline of where eyes could possibly go. It's made out of soft but clearly durable fabric, and an emblem of a tree is outlines on its chest. There's a plastic bundle of markers attached to its paw with a plastic strip. The bundle has a print on it that states "Create your own paths," a meticulously decorated version of the bear pictured underneath. Its tag states its name as "Serva Vitae the Draywood Bear", with the signature of Andre Valkaxis himself.
B.E.A.R. This bear is the ultimate plaything, built for duration and constant hours of entertainment in one adorably plush body. A plush body covered in metal, that is. This bear's white fur is covered in plates of blue metal on its paws. One of its eyes glows red, and can also function as a flashlight! How convenient! There are wheels embedded in its paws that when a button's pressed pop out and allow the wheels to roll around. Another button allows the bear to do a little dance! Some of the other buttons are just labeled "Surprise", so you'll have to click them to see what they do! The label on the bear's back reads "B.E.A.R. the Cytopian Bear."
Finder Before the times of struggles and strange beasts came the hard efforts of good, earnest Chitizens. And what better bear to reminisce on those times than through Finder the New Chiti Bear! This bear is fuzzy and gray and wearing little striped suspenders and black boots. Little patches of 'soot' cover its face and clothes, and the smile on its face demonstrated the happiness that it has to get through a long day of work at the factory. On its back alongside the label is a little notice that all funds from buying this bear will go to a New Chiti Resoration Project founded by Oscar Chatarunga himself. Wonder what happened to that?
Moo and Baa Moo Moo Moo! Baa Baa Baa! That's all you'll hear from these twin ursines! The first you spy is a white bear dressed in a cute fuzzy black cow outfit, two little horns with gold and red rings on their bases. It has a pair of overalls over the cowstume that have a Randwellian flag stitched onto the front pocket. On its backside is the name "Moo the Randwell Bear" on the other side. Its counterpart is a black bear clad in a fluffy white sheep costume dressed in its own set of overalls, a similar emblem on its chest. Turning it over provides the same label in view on its backside, with the name "Baa the Randwell Bear" printed on it. The two are inseparable, literally, because their hands are sewn together. But there's no better representation of the City with One Soul than fuzzy farm animals and inseparable community!

Corporate Sponsored Bears

Due to Make-a-Friend's dedicated audience, many companies pay to sponsor special edition Make-a-Friends to promote their company.

???? This bear isn't as flashy as most of its counterparts. It seems simply dressed in a black suit, its fur and eyes as equally dark. A red handkerchief embroidered with an image of a red V split in the middle between red and black rests in its breast pocket. You can easily suspect this bear had some slightly controversial decisions in its making if you're familiar with the Land's history, which is why it probably came out so simple. It's tag doesn't even have a proper name, just "The Villains Inc Bear (NAME PENDING)". When you squeeze it you can hear a string of numbers, but who even knows if a century old number pattern has any real meaning at this point. This rare bear is only found as a prototype.
LoudnProud Compared to other sponsored bears, this bear was made in a fit of passion against Promise Peak. The bear's appearance focuses on the general scope of the heroes who tend to emerge from it. Or some caricature of that. In what some would say is a stereotypical Apopkan fashion, the bear dons a long blonde wig styles with waves and volume. The bear's face is....interestingly structured, with large felt eyelashes and some strange attempt at high cheekbones in a plush. What looks almost like human lips replaces the common lined muzzle, the snout descending into an uncanny looking lipsticked grin. The bear wears a gaudy outfit, frills on its ankles and its waist. This is the bear that spills glitter when you move it. Flipping it over for that matter gives you the name tag "LoudnProud the Promised Peak Bear".
Ursa This bear is a bear dedicated to the improvement of mankind and the search for kinds beyond our solar system. A replica of the classic LIRC lanyard rests over a star-patterned shirt and a crisp white lab coat. The bear's fuzzy fur is lightly-red enough to almost be pink, and the fur inside the bear's ears has been tipped with just enough glitter to shine as you move it (and thankfully not enough to leave you finding glitter everywhere). One of it's feet has a plastic star embedded within it, silver streams of yarn surrounding it as if it radiates light. It holds a little clipboard in its paws, the LIRC logo stickered onto the back of it. A removable plastic bag is attached to its bum with tiny pins to attach to the bear's lanyard, featuring designs like a classic UFO, a rocket, a mini circlet of the solar system, and many more. A paper in the bag encourages you to "Collect all 12 pins!", though if they intended on you buying the pins individually or buying a new bear each time is hard to day. On the Make-A-Friend copyright tag the name "Ursa the LIRC Bear" appears on the other side.
Reppi Gator Drink!!!! is the name of the carbonated beverage plush that this odd little bear is holding. Its accrue fur is covered by a very radical multi-colored ski jacket with a popped collar and a backwards cap. One half of the bear changes into a mutated shade of green, becoming less fuzzy and more scaly. While one of its eyes remain friendly and happy, the other is bright red and slitted. One side of the bear's muzzle bares (hah) a mischievous forked tongue and pointy teeth. Reading its label aside from the Make-A-Friend disclaimer reveals it to be "Reppi the Gator Drink!!!! Bear", who loves to consume beverages from Tanks'O'Plenty Fountains Beverage company, a New Chiti classic. "Try Gator Drink!!!! and experience the rush of being chased by a New Chiti gator. Warning: Side effects may include temporarily becoming a New Chiti gator. Drink with caution."
Belty Oh who could forget the classic design of Melty Millennium Mouse! The cute ID tag on their ear, their long curly tail, their bright white fur and equally bright red eyes. Fun fact: Melty is actually a combination of rat and mouse, and the debate on them being a Rouse or a Mat continues to this day. The bear you're looking at carries Melty's familiar traits in style! A pair of Cytopian blue trousers gift the bear with a tail worthy enough to call Melty-suitable quality. This bear's Make-A-Friend tag reads "Belty the New Millennium Bear", a mix of the words "Bear" and "Melty", of course. For something designed based off a theme park brimming with imagination, this bear's name seems to have fallen to the wayside. Still cute though. Arguably the softest bear you'll find in the set.

Bearsona Line

Celebrities and historical figures have popularly been made into Make-a-Friends, with varying degrees of success.

Oscar Chatarunga This bear is full of spunk! Its light ginger fur is only slightly less curly than the brown locks spiraling all around its head to its shoulders. It wears a tiny tassled leather jacket that closes at its tummy, leaving a tuft of fur jutting out. Felt bell bottoms and big boots on its bottom paws. One of its eyes is closed as it winks in a playful fashion, a little plush tongue sticking out the side of its mouth. There’s a “Hug Me!” tag attached to its paw, and hugging it tight enough plays a random 80’s jam. The only existing bears are a little old though, so the music is a little warped. A Make a Friend tag titles the bear as “The Oscar Chatarunga Bear - Bearsona Line”.
Cecil Allrich A rather controversial pal in the Make-A-Friend line. This white bear has a bright yellow sun mark embroidered on its face with glittery thread. A pencil mustache is also sewn into its stoic muzzle, magnets helping a pair of small glasses stick to its fluffy face. Its neck is cushioned with what looks like the chicken-feathered nape of a long cape that surrounds most of the bear’s torso. It can be clamped and unclamped, and when taken off reveals a removable accessory of a tiny sword. Pressing a button on the hilt makes it crackle and flicker with fake lightning. This bear was never released, copies that do exist have its label had been stamped multiple times with ‘REJECTED’ and ‘NOT FOR SALE’, making its name impossible to read.
The Premiere Regina Aquafina This bear is a lovely blonde shade on one half of its body and bubblegum blue on the other. A little crown is sewn over one of its ears and its cape is tucked gently beside the back corners of its little neck. Its design looks a bit similar to another bear’s aside from some adjustments to cape length and fur coloring, but is most certainly not related in any way. The face of the bear has its mouth turned up significantly into a warm smile, eyes gleaming at the sight of its new friend (You!). The bear’s tag looks inverted and redone and reads “The Premiere Regina Aquafina Bear - Bearsona Line”. A large ‘PENDING APPROVAL’ notice resides on an additional tag sewn just underneath that.
Idibo Hassan A brown bear with a tan muzzle that bears a bright and toothy grin. Its fur is fluffy and thicker than its counterparts, making it very comfortable to hold and hug. The center of its forehead has a hair swivel dyed on, giving it the familiar appearance of a certain famous engineer. It’s in a white button up with the sleeves rolled up to where elbows could be imagined. Sewn into one hand is a small (and accurate) felt blueprint of New Millennium Park. Attached magnetically to the other is a tiny rendition of the original Melty Mouse plush!

Near its tail is a Make-A-Friend tag that states “The Idibo Hassan Bear - Bearsona Line” along with a discounted ticket to New Millennium Park— that expired almost a century ago.

Winnebago Drifting Any Chitizen worth their salt can immediately identify the inspiration for this bear. Bright orange bangs and a chef’s toque shield the bear’s face from view, a shadow even colored into the bear’s fur to reflect an unknowable visage. Only a long grin spreading past its muzzle can provide anything distinguishable, something many Chits of the past noted in their recounts of encounters with the icon.

The bear wears an apron made of gator skin— or at least hard fabric meant to mimic the appearance of gator skin. Recounts say the real deal looked far more intimidating and nonfunctional in person. Stitched in cursive on the bear’s arm is the tattoo that led everyone to assume the name of the mysterious cook, and it's the same name that appears on the Make-A-Friend tag on its short-shorts clad rump— “Winnebago Drifting, the New Chiti Bear - Bearsona Line”, and the strange chef who began the tradition of the Snake n’ Bake, personally eradicating a significant portion of the vicious beasts before disappearing once it finally caught on with the populace. The bear holds a toy snake in one hand and a spatula in the other, and squeezing either fist makes the snake squeak in fear. Behold, the power of an empty stomach!

Beafoam This bear is dressed in a gray fursuit-esque costume reminiscent of Elaine Macroft’s beloved wolfdog Seafoam. Raised by Elaine from a pup, Seafoam led Cybil and Elaine’s small pack of pooches and kept all the others in line. Renowned for her intelligence, protectiveness, and pure strength, she was by the power couple’s side every step of the way— and then by Elaine’s for the remainder of both their lives.

Much like Seafoam the bear has one pale blue eye, the other eye replaced with one long faded scar. The bear’s mouth is covered by a mask wrapped around its head bearing Seafoam’s snout and large white teeth, a plush copy of Elaine’s novel resting between them. A collar with the Draywood symbol dangles around its neck. A long fluffy tail hangs off the bear’s backside and the bears hands and feet have little paws and plastic claws attached. Just under said tail lies the familiar Make-A-Friend tag: “Beafoam the Draywood Bear - Bearsona Line”.

Penumbra Parley Massacre

While trapped in Castle Penumbra, Moxie Divine was able to send messages through the "bear tubes" that existed in the castle walls, that originally existed to dispense Make-a-Friends when a button was pressed. He used this to leave anonymous bears in the rooms of the living parley-goers after Dee Kelsey's death.

CW: Some bear descriptions include damage to the bears

Virus Bear A simple purple bear. A little wig has been fashioned on its head, sloppily cut on the ends that give it a choppy but straight look. Its expression reads mischievous thanks to its downward eyebrows and what you can probably assume is a long grin to match. A long scarf has been wrapped around the bear's neck, almost swallowing it up with how much it's been wrapped around. Even then the scarf still drapes off of it like a cloak. From underneath the scarf and down one of the bear’s arms is a clumsily embroidered series of connected dots and lines— a Mark, that your eyes would register. If you hold it in the light it seems to glitter faintly, which revealed to be glass stuffed inside that poked out when hugged. The Make a Friend tag looks perfectly printed, stating that this is “The First Victim Bear”. Given to John Crook
Mary Bear Black braided yarn decorates this pastel blue bear’s head. Some white beaded earrings dangle from the bear’s ears. There’s a red sticker that reads “SQUEEZE ME!” stuck to the center of one of them, though doing so gives a shock. A small book accessory has been redecorated on the outside to look like an encyclopedia that the bear is holding close to its chest. Its face has been cut up and sewn back together again to appear smug. The Make a Friend tag looks freshly printed and states that this is "The First Killer Bear". Given to Mercury
Six Bear This yellow bear is wearing cat earphones and a mask, but it’s clear someone’s singed and burnt part of its little muzzle. If you pull hard enough on the head it pops right off! Its face has been reconstructed to look very stern, which makes the muzzle look even more disfigured. Its closed look to be taken from a certain Cytopian bear. The fresh Make-a-Friend tag states that this is “The ‘Second’ Killer Bear”. Given to Nine Lives
Lluxim Bear This orange bear has a fluffy cotton mohawk down its head. Its eyes are covered in colorful lines of paint. Horns from Moo and Baa bears have been stitched into this bear’s arms and a little red bandana is wrapped tightly around its neck. It comes with a markered-over cardboard square to put over its head, one section of the square torn off in a rugged shape in the corner. It feels soaked through and consistently drips water. The fresh Make a Friend tag states that this is “The Second Victim Bear”. Given to Zap!
Moxie Bear This bear looks like a repurpose of a Cecil Allrich bear. Short hair on its head looks like a cut and curled Oscar Bear hair. Patches of other bear’s outfits have been sewn into a makeshift colorful jacket, one sleeve shorter than the other. On the back of the jacket the Heropedia logo has been sewn in. The bear looks permanently covered in soot, and one of its own eyes hanging by a thread from the socket. The fresh Make a Friend tag states that this is “The ‘Second’ Victim Bear”. Given to Brady Copperfield
Mami Bear This bear has been completely dyed the Regina bear bubblegum blue. It wears a tiny jacket around its neck and the sleeve of a similar jacket across its head. The bear’s paws are affixed with little white gloves. If you open the bears back you can flip it inside out to discover a smaller fluffed up brown bear inside, wearing little bear headphones with yarn wrapped around them. The Make-a-Friend tag is visible on the brown bear’s side and reads “The Third Bear Victim”. Given to Gemini
Levi Bear This bear’s entire physique has been crafted with nothing but denim. Pants buttons are used for its eyes, and a little cowboy hat (made of denim and what feels like a paper mache foundation) rests on its head. Through the hat and the bear’s actual head is a hole the size of a 5 bloon coin. The fresh Make-a-Friend tag denotes this bear is “The Third Killer Bear”. Given to Flipswitch
Nando Bear This poor orange bear has been plunged through multiple times! It’s been burnt, an ear has been burnt to a crisp, and its hands are sewn together behind its back. One of its feet paws has a large hole in it. It’s wearing a dark orange bandana as a poncho. If you try lifting its hands over its head, it's muzzle turns into a lighter. The fresh Make-a-Friend tag denotes this bear as “The Fourth Victim Bear”. Given to Boss
Dee Bear This LIRC Bear seems lesser changed than its companions. It’s got the wig of a Promised Peak bear on its head, cut short to stop at the bear’s neck. The clipboard has been cut down into a crude circle. The bear’s muzzle has markered on sharp teeth. The bear has a large crescent moon surrounding one eye and shattered white shapes surrounding the other. A few loops of thread have been wrapped tightly around the bear’s neck. It feels very heavy and smells like metal. The Make a Friend tag marks this bear as “The Fourth Killer Bear”. Given to Pestlakare

The Dee Bear turned out to be a bomb, by the way.
