ScreenBurn aka Lluxim Cruhvan was a technomancer and villain based in the Republic of Randwell. Lluxim was said to be a member of the Randwell rebellion, showing how sinister the rebellion was through harsh words and property damage. However, it was revealed that he was a Randwellian plant used to delegitimatize the rebellion. He was one of the victims of the Penumbra's Parley Massacre.
Career
After finishing his required time in the military Lluxim began spending time pulling data from old and broken devices at the Lunaris Interstellar Research Center (LIRC), moving up from a previous intern position wherein he was overseen by Dee Kelsey. His Mark gave him an advantage at handling rotted motherboards and long dead tech, making him a high-class professional in his field. He was a major contributor to retrieving the current information known from The Unknown/Lost Year materials found in 2010.
His side-job, similarly held in the government sector, was playing the role of Screenburn, a TV-headed villain who abused the city-states low-age tech to harass civilians and cause property damage in the name of the rebellion. Lluxim's primary responsibility outside of public appearances and vocal mockery of was uncovering any genuine rebels and turning their information over to the city-state. He held this position for a year and a half prior to the start of the Parley Massacre.
Lluxim worked with many heroes who were aware of Screenburn's falsity in carefully orchestrated attempts to hold back the rebellion. The messenger and ex-hero Hermes was one of those who participated in public escalations alongside him.
Personal Life
Lluxim was an only child to Bernadette and Marcus Cruhvan, and raised in northeastern Randwell. Lluxim mastered his Mark by helping his grandfather in his antique shop where he was able to repair and play with materials. Thanks to Randwell's rural nature he was able to get by with little medical assistance for most of his childhood, only having some spare shades for emergencies.
As a teenager Luxim got a job at an old repair shop where he fixed people’s clunky computers and devices. There began his first handlings of computer hardware and understanding how to alter modern text through standard elbow grease. Lluxim worked the job through high school and was able to maintain a comfortable amount of independance. In his final years of high school Lluxim's eyesight began to change and with it his Mark's side effects increased. He began working excessively to keep up with ever-changing glasses prescriptions, sometimes going as far as to handcraft his own pair of shades to add under his outdated pairs as assists. In pursuit of a sizable healthcare plan Lluxim sought an internship as a data scientist at LIRC, where he would leave enough of a lasting impression to receive a job offer shortly after returning from the military. Only a few months into his new position would be be approached for playing the role of a custom villainsona.
During high school Lluxim completed favors and commissions for his peers involving manipulating things such as grades, cars, completing repairs, and eventually fussing with military leave-time for others. His no-questions purely monetary attitude to his work made him admired by his peers and those he assisted.
Lluxim was able to live a cushy life thanks to the paychecks he was receiving for his jobs, importing old games and devices to play with in his past-time. Many have said his belief that 'no one wants to steal old crap, just the new stuff' promoted his hobby of collecting and displaying retro items.
Abilities and Gear
Retro Resurrection could reboot old (circa 2030 and below) and broken machines and allow Lluxim to manipulate them as he pleased. Examples include communicating through texts and radios, controlling things like old cars and cables, and extracting information from old technology such as cell phones and desktop computers.) Without any gear Lluxim's control span reached 80 feet, and he could maintain individual control of around 8-10 devices if completely devoted to the task. If only half-focused the device capacity was 6 or 7 at a time, unless the devices only required simple instruction.
Lluxim's TV Head, a unit provided custom by Cytopia, allowed him to amplify his reach to a capacity of 20-25 devices at once and a span of 100 feet.
His Mark was not self-contained. It transmitted a ‘signal’ through his eyes, and if left completely uncovered for approximately 30 minutes would attempt to spread itself across Lluxim's body in search of a proper receptor. This caused symptoms such as an audible static sound from the body, colored pixel-like dermatitis, pins and needles, severe migraine, and an inability to see or hear anything until Lluxim's eyes were covered. Wearing glasses composed of extremely dense material, or something with a very dense and/or tempered screen such as his TV head, could keep his sight from getting out of hand.
Trivia
- The final TV head was the second unit, the first one initially having a VCR flap to serve as a mouth-hole. Lluxim and the heroes staged to fight him kept getting his fingers caught in the flap during fight rehearsals and thus the first iteration was retired.
- Lluxim bonded with his mentor Dee Kelsey over their love of ducks and his love of snitching on and showing up his fellow interns for his own benefit. He owned multiple pairs of duck-based apparel.
- Lluxim's ceramic tinted prescription glasses were worth 50k dubs.
- Screenburn had various outfits made for certain appearances, including pajamas for the Parley Massacre that featured an enormous eye mask for the tv head. Others include a beach-based outfit, a Regina Day outfit, and his classic military gear.
- The retro games and antique playthings within Lluxim's home amounted to 350k dubs worth of materials. The Cruhvan family donated these to the Draywood History Museum upon his passing.
- Lluxim had a pet tamagotchi that he would repeatedly forget to feed and have to revive with his Mark constantly.
