King Jean-Luc Cain
Jean-Luc Cain was 25 when the Flare occurred, humble origins as a professional dodgeball player going from college sports to the big leagues. His sudden telekinesis was a major subject of controversy even when he insisted he wasn't using it in play. He was already the leader and star of his team, but his Mark gave people an excuse to discredit him and within weeks him and every other Marked individual were sent to work in labor camps to 'regain their balance with nature' while the government tried to figure out what to do with the sudden influx of superpowers. They didn't have long to decide, because Jean-Luc formed a militia and staged a quick coup. He was appointed as King and gave his allies their own little duchies.

Jean-Luc was unable to have children of his own, so he adopted Thomas Cain for the intended purpose of raising the ideal heir, and trained him extensively on all things a ruler should know.
He retired at age 75, after 50 years of rule, but continued to advise his son up until his peaceful and natural death.
Trivia
