Slater is the pseudonym of an unidentified hero-killer responsible for killing 23 marked heroes in Draywood between the years of 2048 and 2062. He is known to have explicitly targeted marked individuals as a means of anti-mark terrorism, and apparently directly inspired the formation of the Clean Slate Gang within the city.

Criminal Activity

First starting in 2048, Slater began to target low-profile marked heroes operating within the Downtown Quarter. Although never caught in the act, he would promptly inform local hero groups of the locations of his victims. Most victims were found apparently executed, and were often left with letters on their person addressed to local heroes, espousing his personal beliefs and threatening them to retire.

Extensive manhunts were launched to attempt to locate the killer, but he successfully evaded capture for several years until his own proclaimed “retirement” in 2062. Although still wanted for capture, the case has been designated cold.

Since 2062, Slater has been alleged to still be active, but no further hero deaths have been attributed directly to him.

Clean Slate Gang

First beginning to appear in 2052, disgruntled members of the public began to wear masks similar to Slater’s as a show of support for his actions. These individuals claimed to be a part of the Clean Slate Gang, but alleged that they had no direct connection to Slater when questioned by authorities. Slater himself has never publicly acknowledged the existence of the Clean Slate Gang, although several copycat killers have been arrested with origins stemming from the gang.
