Sam 'Midas' Aurelius is the current leader and former lackey of the Apopkan organized crime group 'the Clovers'. He became known in the public eye after taking over the Clovers at 17, going on to execute several successful heists and gain a reputation for his cutthroat and aggressive attitude.
Career
Midas was a low-ranking member of the Clovers for an undetermined amount of time before his takeover in 2078, when he assassinated its former leader and became the head of the gang. This garnered much attention from the media, and the unusually young gang leader met reactions ranging from concern to disbelief to ridicule, some predicting that he wouldn't last in the position or didn't have what it took to run a criminal organization at his age. Shortly afterwards, a severed human arm with the message "Love, the Defenseless Child ♥" written on it in pen was delivered to the local press, seemingly sent by Midas in response to the mixed opinions on his leadership. The arm incident instantly elevated him to moderate notoriety, and he became known for similarly theatrical and occasionally violent activity in the following years. Although the Clovers were previously a more low-profile group, they changed gears to heisting under his direction, pulling off many jobs on banks, casinos, and the like, mainly targeting gold. He almost always appeared during these heists, using his Mark, All That Glitters, to telekinetically rob people of their golden accessories, interfere with surrounding electronics, and at times as a weapon. Although the goal of these jobs was theft, not violence, there have been incidents of law enforcement being injured or even killed while attempting to arrest Midas and his crew.
He is currently inactive, and has been for the last month or so. It is unknown why.
Personal Life
Information on Midas's personal life and life before joining the Clovers is extremely limited. He has no known family or close friends, and it's unclear when he became a member of the Clovers. He's very rarely seen without a mask covering most of his face, and is generally secretive about himself and his history.
Reputation
Midas is moderately known- not famous by any means, but your average Apopkan has probably heard of him at some point, or seen a news report on one of his jobs. Among those who do know of him in more detail, he has a reputation for being easily-provoked and ruthless, being rumored to have had members of his own gang killed for insubordination. His rise to power at 17 and aggressively flashy crime has earned him some annoyance from rival criminals in the area, and he's a minor topic of insult and occasional spiteful rumors among other gangs. He is reported by some to be 'kind of a dick'.
Mark
'All That Glitters' allows the user control over gold. It works most effectively on pure gold. As lower-karat gold is mixed with other metals, it does not appear to be as easily manipulated. All That Glitters can be used somewhat reflexively, but he must be conscious to use it, and it requires focus to be controlled more precisely. It cannot turn things into gold.
Its exact size and shape are unknown due to being mostly covered by a mask and parts of his clothing in most situations, but it is located over his left eye and extends down the side of his face and neck.
